Alero Awala is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at West Hertfordshire Healthcare Trust and her practice is based at Watford General Hospital.

She also offers private consultations at Spire Bushey Hospital and Bishops Wood Hospital.

After qualifying in 1990, she did her basic training in obstetrics and gynaecology South Yorkshire (North Trent Rotation) and went to on to complete her training as a specialist registrar in the Southwest of England (Bristol Rotation). She became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1998, was awarded a Master’s degree in Reproductive Medicine in 2004 and was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 2005.

She is the lead clinician for Emergency Gynaecology and Early Pregnancy Services at West Hertfordshire Healthcare Trust. She undertakes early pregnancy and gynaecology scans and offers a training programme (Advanced Training Skills Module) for junior doctors interested in emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy.

As part of her Master’s Degree she wrote a dissertation on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) and weight loss and whilst working in Bristol was involved in research into Preterm Labour.
